Sam Hatfield graduated from the Colorado School of Trades, one of the premier gun smithing schools in the country. Following graduation Sam worked as a gunsmith in the civilian market until invited to join the United States Army Marksmanship Unit as a gunsmith in the Custom Firearms Shop.
Since 1956, members of the USAMU have gained worldwide respect by winning hundreds of individual and team national titles, more than 40 World Championships, and 22 Olympic medals.
AMU shooters train thousands of Soldiers each year in advanced marksmanship techniques through train-the-trainer clinics. This has become especially important with the continuing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Making a Soldier more effective in combat helps save American lives and is the number one mission of the AMU.
The AMU’s Custom Firearms Shop takes lessons learned from success in competition and translates that to success on the battlefield. Through research and development of weapons and ammunition, the CFS has equipped Soldiers in combat with specially modified and especially accurate weapons to help increase their effectiveness on the battlefield.
Sam is rejoining the civilian market with treatments such as the "Hatfield Gripple Stipple" which allows recontouring of most polymer frame pistols to improve fit and pointability, as well as a refinishing technique that can be best described as "permanent griptape".
You can truly make your firearm one of a kind.
